Hybrids often are not “******” and don’t reproduce,, but are grafted. That is to create new plants for polination and for seeds, not for flower production. Or at least that is my understanding of them. The heirloom plants must be pollinated. I would imagine you can use q-tips to pollinate or that would be my guess. They are pollinated to reprodue or create fruit which are seeds, like tomatoes. The flowers are pollinated to create the fruit which bears seeds. But with hybrids, they are grafted onto roots, etc. and so they cannot reproduce. They bloom, but don’t bear fruit with seeds and seeds are what reproduce.
I hope someone with more expertise can answer your question further as this is from just a little bit of knowledge and I am not a farmer or planter. I just like flowers and am curious.
Whether for fruit or flower production all plants need a pollinator, bees take care of this job when plants are out side, but with indoor plants we have to do it, q-tips work good for this job. Most hybrid plants do not produce seeds but still need to be pollinated to produce fruit or flowers. Happy pollinating !!
I want to learn to grow food in my home (food that I can move with me in a few months). I have been searching online for simple step by step instructions for starting to grow just one or two vegetables inside and I can’t come up with anything. Please share your knowledge kitchen gardeners!
P.S. I live in Colorado. It is very sunny here so that won’t be an issue. It is dry here also though.
I have bought a Beaumont macadamia tree for my garden.
I’ve read on the internet that they are difficult to pollinate.
Will it have any self pollination or will I need to plant another macadamia tree?
My garden is quarter acre so i don’t want to have too many large trees.
I got the macadamia because i eat a lot of macadamia nuts and like to grow my own food when i can.
Any solutions?
And does it will germinate? And how long I need to wait for it to fully to grow at outside. My country is tropically climate, average 94 Fahrenheit temperature and my room had a large windows facing sun.
